5 Great Items to Help You Stay Healthy While Traveling
Let’s learn how to stay healthy while traveling. Nothing kills a great trip faster than getting sick. Here are a few items you can use to keep yourself from getting sick.
Ginger candy/Ginseng candy
I will not leave for any trip without packing ginger or ginseng candy. Ginger candy is great for the immune system and does great things for an upset stomach.
Ginseng comes from the same family as ginger and helps with nausea. Both ginger and ginseng candy can be found in many Asian or international supermarkets. Many places online also sell them.
I also drink ginseng tea. The ones I buy come in little packets with tea pellets. Just pour hot water over them. These ginseng tea packets are perfect for staying healthy while traveling because they are so easy to pack.
Saltstick Electrolyte Fastchews
These are an absolute life saver for hot climates or any high energy activity. They help keep you from getting dehydrated. Heat stroke and dehydration are common when traveling to places you are unfamiliar with. The climate is different from home and your body doesn’t know how to react.
I talk all about how great these Saltstick Fastchews are in my warm weather essentials post. Definitely look into purchasing these to stay healthy while traveling.
Airborne supplements
These tablets are great to take before you board an airplane or any other place that has a lot of people. Give your immune system a boost before coming in contact with a lot of germs.
There are a lot of great flavors such as Berry, but my favorite will always be the original Citrus flavor.
Disinfectant wipes
Wipe down surfaces on public transportation or any other place that you want to disinfect. One of my sisters and I used to go back and forth about what type of wipes to use. She was right all along. You need wipes that disinfect surfaces. If the wipes are gentle enough for your hands and face, then the wipes are not strong enough to properly disinfect surfaces.
These wipes claim to kill Staph, E. Coli, Salmonella, Strep, MRSA, and Klebsiella. These are the wipes you need to really stay healthy when traveling. The other ones just don’t cut it.
Citron Tea / Vitamin C Drinks
Citron is a type of citrus fruit. It’s commonly called Yuzu. Teas and juices that contain citron and other citrus fruits are great for immune support. When I feel the first sign of a cold (usually a sore throat), I take citron tea.
Citron tea can be found in Asian supermarkets. There are also small bottles of the already made citrus teas and drinks that do not require you to add water. Those can be found in convenience stores/supermarkets in Asian countries.
