What are the 5 Best Connecticut Fall Attractions?
This post was inspired by a series I did in 2020 called “Staycation Postcards“. I discovered so many great Connecticut fall attractions when I wasn’t traveling internationally. Now I’m traveling farther. But it’s still great to support local businesses and find hidden gems in your own backyard.
Quassy Amusement Park
This Connecticut fall attraction was a childhood staple for me. We would always visit Quassy for class trips. The amusement park was founded in 1908. I do believe this amusement park is best for small children. However, there is a lot for them to do. There is also a popular wooden roller coaster called the Wooden Warrior. Definitely add this to your list if you have small children.

Sound Sailing Center
I’m a little bit partial with this choice since I used to work here. This sailing school/club has been in business since 1986 and is a family run business.
There is nothing like being out on the water on Long Island Sound in the fall. Take sailing lessons or sign up for a sailboat membership.
Location: 54A Calf Pasture Beach Rd, Norwalk, CT 06855
Indian Well State Park
Connecticut is full of state parks. This is a great local one in Fairfield County. It’s located in this town of Shelton.
The waterfalls are the main draw to this park. So many of the trails contain waterfalls. I actually did a whole post on the Indian Well State Park. I will link it here.
Location: 1 Indian Well Rd, Shelton, CT 06484
Belltown Hill Orchards
This orchard has been a Connecticut staple since 1910. And it is still a family farm. Nothing says New England like apple picking and apple cider doughnuts.
Belton Hill Orchard has all the goods! I’m talking apple butters, pumpkin jams, pumpkin doughnuts and more. I talk all about this place in my Glastonbury post.
Location: 483 Matson Hill Rd, South Glastonbury, CT 06073
Olde Mistick Village
This attraction reminds me of visiting a New England town in a storybook. It has little shops and restaurants all contained in a park-like setting. There is a toy store housed in a red schoolhouse. A weeping willow tree greets you as you walk through the middle of “town.”
Old Mistick Village is the perfect Connecticut fall attraction for those who prefer a slow stroll through cute shops. The close proximity to both Mystic Seaport and the Mystic Aquarium also adds to its appeal.
Location: 27 Coogan Blvd, Mystic. CT 06355
