Abu Dhabi Architecture
Have you ever seen Abu Dhabi Architecture? You may have heard about Abu Dhabi, but were not quite sure where it was. Many more people have heard of its fellow city-state Dubai. Abu Dhabi is the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), considered by many as the richest city in the world. I was able to visit both Dubai and Abu Dhabi on my recent trip to the UAE. One of the things that really stood out to me in Abu Dhabi was the architecture.
Make your first stop in Abu Dhabi the Sheikh Zayed Mosque. If you have time for only a few things in Abu Dhabi, this is definitely a must-see. The attention to detail everywhere you look is remarkable. The many domes and minarets really let you know that you are looking at a structure in the Middle East. White marble covers the walls and gold accents are common.
Note: You will have to remove your shoes as you enter the Mosque. Women must wear head coverings. Cover your arms and legs completely as well.
Another stop on your list of must see architecture is anywhere near Corniche Road. The Presidential Palace is located there. This area is covered in beautiful homes.
Lastly, my list includes the Etihad Towers, which are so stunning and futuristic looking. Pictured below and to the right is the beautiful Emirates Palace. I would have loved to get a closer view of it, with its beautiful turquoise domes.
I hope you enjoyed this tour of the architecture in Abu Dhabi.
