5 Unique Connecticut Spring Day Trips You’ll Love
Are you getting ready to plan a few Connecticut spring day trips? Then you have come to the right place. The following day trips will get you excited for the warm weather that is right on the horizon. (Although you would never know it with all the snow we’re getting in New England.) Day trip locations are broken down by interest so you can experience a trip that is unique to you. I also have a Connecticut winter day trips post, so check that out too.
Architecture Enthusiast – Topsmead State Forest, Litchfield

Topsmead State Forest is open year-round. Imagine exploring this park as all the spring flowers are starting to bloom. Architect Richard Henry Dana, Jr. designed and built the English Tudor house that is located in the park. It was completed in 1925. Check out my post, Topsmead State Forest Cottage, for a look inside the cottage. Address: 46 Chase Rd, Litchfield, CT 06759 Website: Topsmead State Forest (ct.gov)
Shopaholic – Olde Mistick Village – Mystic

I would describe Old Mistick Village as a mini replica of a New England town. Expect to find cute little quaint shops, each one more interesting than the next. The architecture of the shops is very “New England”. They resemble houses you would find in Connecticut, New Hampshire and Massachusetts. Address: 27 Coogan Blvd, Mystic, CT 06355 Website: Homepage – Olde Mistick Village
History Buff – Glastonbury Historic District, Glastonbury

Start your Connecticut spring day trip on Main Street near the Glastonbury Town Hall. That is where the Glastonbury Historical District starts. Continue down Main Street until you find the Glastonbury Town Green (Hubbard Green). The town green features the Museum on the Green and is also home to the Historical Society of Glastonbury. Address: 1944 Main St, Glastonbury, CT 06033 Website: Glastonbury Historical Society – History Happened Here
History Buff – Fairfield Museum and History Center, Fairfield

Explore the permanent museum exhibit “Creating Community: 400 Years of Fairfield Stories”. Learn about the Native American villages that became what we now call Southwestern Connecticut. There is another permanent exhibit outside the museum that features historic town buildings. It showcases the Sun Tavern, Victorian cottage and barn among other buildings. Address: 370 Beach Rd, Fairfield, CT 06824 Website: Home | Fairfield Museum and History Center
Outdoors Lover – Indian Well State Park, Shelton

The Indian Well State Park is a great hiking location. There is a beach in addition to the hiking trails. Address: 1 Indian Well Rd, Shelton, CT 06484 Website: Indian Well State Park | Connecticut State Parks and Forests
Did I leave out anything? Where do you like to go when the weather starts to warm up? What tops your list of Connecticut spring day trips? If you live outside of Connecticut, what do you love doing in the spring where you live?
