KM Malta Airlines Review on the Airbus A320 Neo

KM Malta Airlines became the national airline of Malta in the Spring of 2024. They replaced Air Malta, who had held that spot for the past 50 years. This change was made only a few months before my flight in October from Switzerland to Malta. Keep reading to see my experience with KM Malta Airlines.

KM Malta Airlines – Airbus A320 Neo

The Airbus A320 Neo appeared to be very new. All of the seats were a vibrant red color. The seats were comfortable enough for the length of this flight.

I found the seat pitch to be more than that of the larger Airbus A330-300 on the Swiss Air flight I took right before this one. Read my Swiss Air review to see what I mean.

IFE

This was a short flight, so I did not expect for there to be inflight entertainment. There was a seatback device to hold your tablet. Mine was too small. Though it will work with a slightly larger one.

Food

I knew that this would be a short two-hour flight. However, I did expect to receive a small bag of crackers/chips and a soft drink. Maybe we would receive only a soft drink. There was no free food service at all on this flight.

Passengers did not even receive water. I learned later that Malta was experiencing a drought. However, that did not prevent the other airlines I flew during this trip from providing water.

I don’t know if the lack of service was due to the recent changes to the airline. In any case, KM Malta Airlines, please do better.

I will add that there was a menu with items available for purchase. Items included sandwiches and small entrees.

Bathrooms

The bathrooms were standard size for this size of aircraft. Unfortunately, I don’t have any photos.

Flight Attendants

There was not much interaction with the flight attendants. This was in part due to the flight not having food or drink service.

The one interaction I had with a flight attendant was not pleasant. I felt as if we were being herded off of the plane. We did have buses to catch that would take us to the airport. However, I felt the flight attendant could have handled the situation better.

Conclusion

Would I fly KM Malta Airlines again? I would if the itinerary fit my needs. The flight was on time, on a brand-new aircraft and had great legroom. I would have liked to have some form of free snack/drink service included on the flight.

Did I really need the free water and crackers since I had brought snacks and water with me? No, but it was the principle. Maybe things will change as the newly formed airline receives more feedback.
