SWISS Premium Economy on Long Haul Flights

SWISS is now offering Premium Economy. This new Premium Economy Class cabin will gradually be installed on all 12 of SWISS’s long-haul Boeing 777-300ERs. It’s bookable as of last week. Let’s see what’s included! [Side note: I took SWISS on my first transatlantic flight to Europe.]

Premium Economy Cabin

What separates this new class from regular SWISS Economy? Each seat has a personal reading lamp and its own USB connection. Completing the seats are adjustable headrests and a double arm rest. So no fighting over the armrest.

Food

Now the exciting part – the food. Enjoy a wider selection of food. Choose from your choice of three hot entrees served on fine china. No plastic here. The third extra choice is not available on regular SWISS Economy. Enjoy a SWISS chocolate on your flight, which is offered on all classes.

Amenities

Then add to the on-board comfort. SWISS Premium Economy passengers receive a complimentary amenity kit. The kit is made using sustainable materials. They will also receive high-quality noise-reducing headphones. All the more to enjoy the entertainment on the seat’s 15.6-inch screen.

SWISS Premium Economy

Start the premium experience before boarding the plane. Take advantage of double the baggage allowance of regular Economy. Check two bags at 23 kilograms (approx. 50 lbs.) each compared to just one in regular Economy. Also enjoy reduced-rate access to the SWISS Business Lounges at Zurich and Geneva airports and the SWISS Arrival Lounge at Zurich Airport. Not to mention priority boarding over Economy passengers.

First class is missing from many new routes. Classes are now leaning towards being economy, premium economy and business class. Which still leaves you with three classes in the end.

What has been your experience? Do you think Premium Economy is here to stay? Let me know in the comments.
