Spinning the Potter’s Wheel- Interview with an Art Student

I’m back with another interview. This time I spoke with an art student named Pricile who is studying at a University here in Connecticut. Let me share her story. Keep reading to find out why she chose this path.

Q: Why did you decide to study the arts?

I decided to study art because every time I pictured myself,  I couldn’t picture myself doing anything else but being in a studio and working on a wheel. I love working with my hands. There’s this feeling I get every time I give my work to someone who really wants one of my pieces. I feel excited and blessed that I’m able to create something and make someone else happy. I like that it makes me different.

Q: What is the focus of your degree?

My degree is a BS in studio with a concentration in ceramics.

Q: What is your favorite medium to work with?

I love working with clay. I’m able to maneuver it and sculpt it into any form I want.

Q: What would you tell someone who wants to pursue an arts degree?

I would say that if it’s something that you truly can imagine or see yourself doing for the rest of your life then go for it. Work hard!  Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there and make lots of connections.

Definitely check out more of Pricile’s work on her Instagram.
