Delta Airlines Economy Short-Haul Review – Airbus A220-300

This post is a review of my Delta Airlines Economy short-haul flight from Minneapolis, Minnesota to NYC (La Guardia). (Check out my Delta Airlines Economy long-haul review.) 2025 is Delta Airlines’ 100th year anniversary and what better way to celebrate than to fly them twice in one day!

If you’re taking an international flight, then you definitely need travel insurance. (I ended up in the ER while traveling, the day before I took this flight.) Get a free travel insurance quote without even providing your email; click here.

We left out of Minneapolis late for two reasons. First, the plane had to be switched from one to another. I never had to change planes, but it delayed boarding. Then, once on board, the maintenance crew had to fix a rear airplane door that wasn’t functioning properly.

As we took off, the plane made lots of loud banging noises. It felt as if we were riding an old Greyhound bus, along a bumpy road into the sky. This was kind of scary, but after all the chaos of the day before, I was so ready to be home. So, it didn’t bother me too much. (See my post about ending up in the ER in a foreign country. I will also take this time to apologize for the fact that some of the photos in this post are not up to my usual standard of quality. I had literally been at the ER the day before this flight. So, I was still out of it, and my hands were shaky.)

I also wore my Delta t-shirt that I purchased at the Delta Flight Museum in Atlanta. (Check out my Delta Flight Museum post to see the museum and tour a Delta Boeing 747.)

Delta Airlines Short Haul Economy Class- Airbus A220-300

The seats were very comfortable and pretty wide. I preferred that they were vinyl as opposed to fabric. They were set up in a 2-3 configuration, which I had not seen on similar Delta Airlines Economy short-haul flights. I’m thinking of flights I had taken with them to Florida.

In-flight Entertainment (IFE)

I mostly watched downloaded videos on my tablet during this flight.

As I said in my Delta Airlines Economy long-haul review, there was a good selection of Western and some international videos and shows.

There were also the same music playlists as on that flight. You could select which song you wanted to hear next, which is different from some other U.S. domestic airlines.

Many airlines have gotten rid of in-flight entertainment for short-haul flights and replaced the seatback screen with a space to view media on your own device. I’m glad Delta Airlines continues to have in-flight entertainment during their regional flights.

Food

This was a short-haul flight. That meant no actual meals were served. We were given Biscoff cookies, which I’m a big fan of. So, I was satisfied.

Bathrooms

The bathroom I used in the rear was a decent size for the plane size. It was kept clean throughout the flight.

Flight Attendants

The flight attendants were personable. They kept everyone calm as we waited though multiple delays.

Conclusion

The delays made things a little difficult. However, they were things beyond Delta Airlines’ control. I appreciate them switching planes instead of taking forever to try to fix an issue that would have severely delayed us. I’m also glad they addressed the door issue on the second plane, since safety is important.

I will continue to fly Delta Airlines for both long and short-haul flights just as I have in the past. I wish them another great 100 years to come!
