How to Build an Airplane Amenity Kit with Made in Connecticut Products + A Giveaway!

Let’s make our own airplane amenity kit. It’s the perfect travel companion for a long flight. Some airlines, like Turkish Airlines and Emirates (image below) offer amenity kits to Economy Class passengers. However, most airlines only provide them to Business Class and First Class passengers. Everyone deserves to feel like they sit at the front of the plane once in a while. Besides showing you what to put in your airplane amenity kit for a flight far away, we’re going to keep things local.

That means directing you to local destinations and artisan businesses in my home state of Connecticut. I always want to encourage my readers to shop small and purchase items from artisans whether close to home or in faraway destinations.

Learn More About the Artisan Brands:

Tierra Soap Co.

Tierra Soap Co. was created to reimagine the founders’ relationship with their own skin and the planet. They wanted every botanical ingredient to be placed in their soaps with their very own hands.

Tierra Soap Co. develops their soap in small batches using the cold process technique. This leaves you with nothing but quality products.

They got busy working with their hands and “la Tierra” (which is Spanish for “the earth”). Turmeric, shea butter, coconut oil, castor oil, almond oil, coffee grounds, kaolin clay, olive oil and organic rolled oats are just a few of their special ingredients.

Shola Skincare

Shola Skincare was started out of a need to find a natural solution to Shola’s daughter’s eczema issue. Shola was already familiar with natural ingredients, so when her daughter was diagnosed at 6 months old, she went to work. All the medications that were being given had severe side effects, and that didn’t sit well with Shola.

She would be in her kitchen every day, testing natural ingredients or researching online. The first product she made was a lavender body butter. She realized it worked, but she realized she also needed something to cleanse the skin. So, she made oatmeal soap, and it worked very well along with the lavender body butter.

Fast forward 5 years later, and Shola has made it her duty to continue providing natural, organic plant-based skincare.

Both Tierra Soap Co. and Shola Skincare are keeping artisan soapmaking alive in Connecticut.

What you decide to put in your own airplane amenity kit is all up to your own personal taste. One important thing that most amenity kits include is a toothbrush and toothpaste. There is nothing like having morning breath for a 10-hour flight. Put together your own amenity kit with items that make you feel relaxed and rejuvenated. That way, your next flight will feel a little more like you’re sitting in the front of the plane.
