5 Great Travel Food Containers for Eating On the Go

What are my favorite travel food containers? These are the ones I use to carry my food and drinks while I’m traveling. A lot of people are talking about Stanley brand water bottles and how much of a fuss some people are making over them. We want products that work well, not just what is popular. Surprisingly Stanley is on this list, but it’s not a cup. Keep reading to see what I use to store my food and drinks.

Simple Modern Scout Mug

If we are going to talk about a drink cup, I will mention my Simple Modern mug. I have had this for at least 5 years. My Simple Modern Scout mug keeps my drinks hot for hours. I can make tea in the morning, and by the end of the work day, it is still piping hot.

My particular mug does not fit into a car’s cupholder. However, Simple Modern does sell ones that fit in cupholders. They also come in a variety of cute colors, if that is your thing.

Nalgene Lock Top Bottle

You have seen my Nalgene bottle in a number of my travel posts. I do not travel without this bottle. It attaches to my bags and goes everywhere with me.

The bottle is hands-free while I’m driving or doing anything else. And it’s really good quality. Check out the full Nalgene line here.

Stanley Food Jar Thermos

I have had this Stanley thermos for over 10 years. It was a gift and I love it. Your food will remain hot for hours. This travel food container if perfect for parents traveling with babies and children. My go to travel food for my thermos is Trader Joe’s chicken noodle soup.

The Stanley brand has a long history. Initially men took these food jars to work, and their food stayed hot until lunchtime. Many workers still use them to keep their food hot. Its ability to keep food hot for hours is the reason it makes my list of the best travel food containers. I definitely recommend the Stanley food jar for road trips and day trips.

Airtight Lunchbox

I first discovered this type of airtight lunchbox in Atlanta, Georgia, at H-Mart, an Asian supermarket. That was 10 years ago. The two I own are both from Korean brands. They can be found in many Asian supermarkets and online.

Many of these containers have compartments to separate foods. Others have removeable sections that do the same thing. These travel food containers are perfect for traveling with children.

Rice Husk Utensils Set

This utensil set is not a travel food container. However, it fits into the same category. I purchased this years ago for work lunches. What stood out to me was the unique material it was made from. It’s made of rice husk plant fiber. This makes it much more sustainable than regular plastic.

The plastic storage box keeps all the pieces in one place. So, you’re less likely to leave a utensil behind.

BAGGU Standard Packable Bag

This one is a bonus. A packable BAGGU shopping bag is great for grocery shopping while traveling. Many stores do not provide plastic bags. This bag is also great for regular grocery shopping. Ironically, we don’t use single-use plastic bags in Connecticut. (There was a single use plastic ban put in place around 2019.)

I used this bag to carry all the food and snacks I bought during my trip to Japan. It also folds up into a neat square when it is empty. This means it can fit neatly in your pocketbook or purse when not in use.
