Staycation Postcards: St. Mary’s by the Sea- Black Rock

St. Mary’s by the Sea is located in the Black Rock neighborhood of Bridgeport, Connecticut.  Would I really consider it an actual park? No. Was it the perfect place for an afternoon walk in late August? Definitely!

The Black Rock neighborhood of Bridgeport, Connecticut is on the border of the city of Bridgeport and the town of Fairfield. It offers great views of Long Island Sound. Scout the wildlife such as birds and fish. Many people visit the park to go fishing. It’s also located in an area that has a lot of different restaurants.

Another great part of the park is looking at all the houses that face the water. Many of them are historic houses and they are all beautiful. Imagine waking up to that view every morning.

As you walk down further you may get a glimpse of the ferry (below). This ferry goes from Bridgeport, Connecticut to Port Jefferson, Long Island. I’ve taken it a couple times and it’s a very smooth ride. You get there in about an hour.

The lighthouse (below) is another great site. It’s called the Black Rock Harbor Light and also known as the Fayerweather Island Light. It marks the entrance into Black Rock Harbor.

While it is a thin stretch of greenery, it is still considered a park, so they will check to make sure you have a park sticker.

Take a stroll. Or sit on a bench. Just don’t miss the beautiful views.
