The best way to find out about a place you’ve never been is to talk to people who have already been there. That is where reviews come in. Many hotels have their own review section. Expect some biased reviews. I recommend TripAdvisor for good hotel reviews.

You can also use the hotel booking site of your choice for their reviews. I’ve used Agoda for a while and have always been happy. I plan to use airbnb soon. For now I’ll talk about how I use Agoda to get the best deals anywhere.

How I’ve Been Using Agoda

What I like best about Agoda is being able to filter your choices so many ways. Choose your location and dates like any other travel site. Then you’ll see all the ways you can narrow down your choices.

Decide how much you want to spend per night. Also decide if you want a 3-stars, 4-stars or 5-stars. How much does the location matter? Make all these choices to make sure you are getting exactly the hotel you want.

Then decide what type of guest rating score you want. Choose a range of 6+ through 9+. Narrow down your preferred payment options as well. We all want that free breakfast. Select that as well. Now that you’ve narrowed everything down, it’s time to select your actual hotel.

Look through all the images. Decide if the location will meet your needs. Use the map on the page to see exactly where the hotel is located. Do you want to be in the countryside or do you want to be where all the action is?

Look at the different room types. Each room type has its own set of images so you can see exactly what you are getting. There you also see the benefits of each room. Does it have Wifi? What is the size of the room in feet/meters?

The different payment options are great. Many hotels allow free cancellation up to a certain date. You can also pay directly through Agoda (post not sponsored). That means there is no need to deal with payment once you arrive. Just enjoy your stay.
